Subaru Wrx Auto To Manual Swap
Subaru Transmission Swap Chart
Story timewent to look at a subaru liberty today which i found on the net which was advertised as a manual, so drover 40mins to this car yard (this place was full of cars needing TLC but roadworthy just), look at the car and found out it was auto, SADFACE, thought to myself, would it be hard to do an auto to manual conversion? Mcm did it on their show car, yes i have average knowledge but hey its worth a go if someone could tell me what really changes.so my question is,with a auto to manual conversion, what gets changed within the car, the process, cost, tools etc, basically a overview yeahmy thought is that you drop the auto transmission, pop in your manual transmission, chuck in ur shifter (and that stuff), change the loom/ecu or something like that, put in a new set of pedals, hole for clutch cable, and maybe something to do with the clutch itself like a replacement or something (that area im unsure)thanks. The gearbox (duh)clutchflywheelclutch pedalany associated linkages (clutch cable/lines shfter/shifter cables etc for a fwd)a way to delete/bypass the park lock (prevents the car from starting in anything other than park or neutral this tricks an auto ecu into thinking it's always in neutral/park)thats about it realyGenerally speaking that's the list but some cars require more parts than others. Check the manual or a forum/car club. Some cars may also need:- Different Gearbox/Engine mounts- Gearbox bolts- Different driveshafts/intermediate/tail shafts- Sandwich plates- Starter motor- ECU, TCU and/or loom changes- Cluster? There are heaps of threads on this topic with good guides, some of which I've written.Do a search either using the MCM search function or in google for 'auto manual conversion site:forums.mightycarmods.com'/Kthxbai.
