The timer also features a random program function for added security, back-lit LCD screen, seven on/off settings per day, manual override and power outage backup ensuring it is ready at a moment's notice. Simply set it and forget it. The GE SunSmart Digital In-Wall Timer works with CFL, LED and incandescent light bulbs. Color: White. In my opinion, Yes. It's dry, clean, not subject to wind blowing dust and dirt into box and hopefully that ever pleasant treat, ants crawling into electrical box and dying.Only possible consideration might be on a south or west wall that gets a lot of solar heating. Back in the good old days, we needed to keep discrete transistors below 85 or 90 degrees F and the backside of stucco or HardiePlank can get about 105 F easily.

I would expect first and maybe only effect would be time being fast (or slow). Maybe some soft insulation or a small piece of foil faced R-Max insulation behind electrical box can slow or block solar/thermal heating. Unfortunately this timer cannot be wired in a switch location with only 2 wires. This timer requires your switch location to have access to all 4 wires necessary for a lighting circuit. The Intermatic timer uses a battery to turn ON/OFF and will do job within electrical code. If I don’t understand your question correctly, please re-state it and ask again.Having the lights come on at “Dusk” (Sunset) and turn off at 10:00PM is a very reasonable use/application for this timer so I assume you are asking how to program for this sequence.

(The other choice is you already programmed it for Dusk and off at 10 AM and 10 AM has not occurred yet when you notice problem)If you would like the timer to turn on at the Pre Set time for DAWN press “ENTER” and move to P1 OFF setting. If you would like the timer to turn on at the Pre Set time for DUSK use the + or – buttons to change the option on the screen to DUSK and press “ENTER” and move to P1 OFF settingIf you would like choose a custom time other than DAWN or DUSK use the + or – buttons to change the option on the screen to TIME and press “ENTER”. The hour should be blinking. Use the + or – to set the correct hour. If you pass 11 to 12 you will change the AM to PM. Once the correct hour is found press “ENTER” to confirm. The Minute should be blinking. Use the + or – to set the correct minute.

Press “Enter” to confirm. The screen will show PRG, P1 OFF and the days of the week will be blinking. Choose the days you want the program to be active and press “ENTER”. Now that you have chosen the days the timer will function the next step is to choose the time the program will turn off. There are 3 options to choose from when selecting the program OFF time. Use the + or – to scroll through the options. DAWN. DUSK.

Press “ENTER” to begin setting P2 ON. You may also use the + or– buttons to scroll through all 7 programs or push AUTO to complete the programming. If it turns off at 10pm, it was set to do so. You just need to change or adjust.

I don't have the instructions off hand but first read through it. There are 2 sets of programs you need to verify and adjust.First set of programming is to define the Dawn and Dusk time.

That is not the on / off time. This is what the timer will base the calculations on to adjust for the change of season. Guesstimate the dawn and dusk time or check your local weather report for that. The second set of programming is to define the On time and Off time.

Use P1 (Program 1) and simply set it to ON at Dusk and Off at Dawn.Check the other programs like P2 and P3 and delete those other times you may have set in there, unless of course you have other on/off time you desired. Usually, this timer is used for Dusk to Dawn, but in your case you want Dawn to Dusk. When programming the dusk to dawn feature, it asks for the current dusk and dawn time on the clock for your area.

Maybe you could program your dawn time when it asks for your dusk time. Then, put in your dusk time, when it asks for your dawn time. It seems to me that this should work, and then adjust for longer and shorter daylight hours, and for daylight savings time.

I can't say for certain, but I believe it would work.If you wish the timer to turn on before daylight, then just adjust the actual time of daylight that you program into the timer by the 30 minutes. You could just not use the dusk to dawn feature, and simply program in start and stop times, however, in this case it will not adjust for seasonal changes in daylight. I don't believe you can get parts for this but you might be able to get a replacement switch thru the 1 year warranty.ONE-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY: Jasco Products Company warrants this product to be freefrom manufacturing defects for a period of one year from the original date of consumer purchase. This warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of this product only and does not extend toconsequential or incidental damage to other products that may be used with this unit. This product should fit any standard box, however, the metal 'plate surrounding the unit' is crimped, so it can be easily bent and broken off with pliers to trim down the width, if it is slightly too wide for your application. No big deal at all.

This unit is fairly deep, so it does take up a fair amount of room in the box.So, some fine tuning is required to shape and fit all the wiring into the box with the unit. If I was installing the box, I would choose the extra deep box that is available, but if already installed, I'm sure you will have the standard depth box. So, just be patient in bending and cramming all the wires and unit into the box. This unit has worked perfectly in adjusting for daylight savings time, and the changing length of day light throughout the year.

In the document that comes with the timer there are several ways to wire it. I used the closest one to your diagram and copied it below yours.

I assume you mean by 'neutral' to be the 'chasses' ground. Some older homes do not have that ground.

However, ALL wiring has to have the 'neutral' ground as a return or nothing will work. The Neutral and chasses grounds do not connect together anywhere except at the entrance box. Although I didn't wire my timer thee-way, according to the data sheet schematic, it should work. I colored my drawing according to standard electrical code.

You may encounter other colors. Although I do not know exactly how much power the timer switch uses it'self, I can tell you that it is very, very little indeed.a tiny amount. Obviously, you would save about 60% electrical power by turning off the light during the daytime and only switching it on at night with the timer switch. Also, the bulb will last more than twice as long. And, if you use an LED bulb, you will save about 90% of the power.

Combining these 3 factors will result in a huge savings, over just leaving a light on 24 hours a day with a regular bulb. Of course, with the timer switch, you don't have the headache of trying to remember to keep turning the lights on and off every day. Ours have not lost programming due to power failures. I assumed there must be some small backup battery internally, although I would not assume it will last forever. As for reprogramming, as with many items at HD, if you look the item up on HD's website, there will be a link for instructions/assembly that will get you a pdf copy of the manufacturer's instructions. Here is the one for this timer:if t isn't there, a simple internet search using make and model will often get you a source.
