I am getting no sound from my system whether there are external speakers are attached or not. Sound does not work for any application. Speaker have been verified using another computer. System is not muted. Using Realtek High Definition Audio on 24bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality). The drivers are up to date and operating.

When testing the indicator show sound levels but there is still no sound. The sound had been working for a number of years and then stopped. It restarted at one point but when thesystem was shut down and restarted the sound was gone again. The start up beeps are heard and the small pop from the speakers can be heard during start-up like the speaker are being activated but that is the last sound heard.
